OUR MINES.

CAMBRIA.

The regular fortnightly cleaning up and retorting for this, company took place to* day for the excellent return of 8220zs lOdwts gold, which was reduced on melting to 808ozs 17dwts. For this yield a total of 384 loads of general dirt and 6201bs of specimens were treated. The latter produced 4400zs gold, while the general dirt gare the remainder, being at the rate of about loz per load, which is rery satisfactory, considering the large size of the reefs, and the facilities for breaking and treating tbe quartz. There is no change to report from the mine,, which continues to look well throughout. The hangingwall of the reef in the winze was not broken down to-day. NEW PBINCE IMPERIAL.

The mine manager's weekly report is as follows :—" As the supply of quartz was getting rather short, the men working at No. 5 level, in the footwall lead (which has been very small lately), were removed to the stopes en No. 1 reef, above No. 4 level. The lode at the point where they are now working is of a fair size, and looks promising, especially close up to No. 2 break. These stopes are only 25 or 30 feet above the level, so that if any thing of importance is got there will be fully 90ft of backs to No. 3 level. Fair grade dirt is still being obtained from the stopei on No. 4 level, which are now 58ft above the level. As this lead is standing almost vertical, there will be fully 100 feet of backs to take out yet. The winze on No. 1 reef, from the intermediate drive below No. 4 level, is down 34 feet, and I am pleased to say that the reef is looking fully as well as when the winze was started. In breaking down a small portion of it yesterday (Friday) evening, gold was very freely seen all through the stone; and although no picked stone was seleoted, the dirt will yield well at the battery. As there is every appearance of the gold carrying down to No. 5 level, we will shortly have to commence driving to meet the winze. The intermediate drive is still in progress, and is vow some 20 feet from the No. 2 break, where we met such good prospects on No. 4 level. The stopei in hand here have been looking very well this week, and about 15Ibs of good stone; bare been obtained.—Gr. S. Cubk."
