Diseased Nature oftentimes breaks forth in •trange eruptions."—Act Hi, Scene 1. TO THE PUBLIC. SOME patients suffering from nervous affections are afraid from sheer bashful* nees and modesty to pebsonAxiy consult a medical man—other patients hare not the self-possession and coolness when in the con* suiting room | to accurately describe their symptoms —their habits of life, and the nature of the disease they suffer from. Let such persons (he or she) sit quietly down in the privacy of their own apartments, and with calm minds describe clearly each symptom of their case, a clear statement thus written, and laid before me isj far preferable in KKBTOtrs diseases to a personal consults* tion. Where, however, a. disease is of a peculiar and exceptional character, a personal consultation may. become necsseary; but my success in correspondence is so great, that of tbe thousands upon thousands whom I hare treated by letter during the last 32 years, not a single mistake Las ever occurred, not a caee has ever been made public—in fact the very •implicity of my system of correspondence prevents publicity. At the same time medicines are sent to my patients in such a form as to defy detection. How many thousands have I not brought joy to P How many have been enabled to enter into the marriage state through consulting me ? How mauy after marriage have privately consulted me and been blessed and their married lives made fruitful and happy. How many wasted ruined youths of both sexes have also been restored to health, and thanked their manhood, for having consulted me by letter. t How many questions arise where the family physician ia unable to unravel the case and where often the patient lingers on, not dariog to tell his family medical adviser the nature of his complaint, until consumption wasting, or mental diseases, set in and the sufferer gets beyond the ouriable stage, and is left a hopeless wreck. A letter written in the privacy of the room and dropped in the poet box reaches me quietly; the answer is returned as quietly and unostentatiously, and the patient, without stepping from his chamber, except to post his letter, is by return of post put in full poseee* sion of the nature of his case. His hopes are rrised his doubts removed, and he is comparatively a new man j in fact, in many cases, • new being altogether. The only addition to the ordinary written letter is the age occupation, habits and symptoms, nothing more. The usual consultation fee of £1 (one pound) must be enclosed, otherwise no answer will be returned. There are thousands of cases in daily life where a consultation with one at a distance will remove by a single letter a great fear, a great care, and it often solves what appears as an impenetrable mystery. Many a sad heart has been made joyful on receipt of an explanatory lettor from me. To those who are about to marry, I would say consult me before doing so, and thus prevent many after troubles} and remove many unnecessary fears and prejudices; to those, more especially, who have suffered in early years from disease, or who have yielded to their passions. To these I say, at once, consult with me, do not tarry, delays are dangerous, and as an .expert, my time may not be always at your service, you can, by ismply enclosing one pound, have the benefit of my experience iv the same manner as if I lived in your town, and with the additional advantage of thorough privacy.—Yours, truly. LOUIS L. SMITH Address— DEL. L. SMITH. 182 COLLINS STREET EAST . Melbourne. CONSULTATION FEE BY LETTER, £1 Fee for personal Consultation, £1 1. The latter is inclusive of Medicine. MedieiiOß forwarded, wi'll-pucked, to all the Colonies, India uncj Europe. 181, VQIUHi MJUJiJ" EIBT, MSLJOUKJNH
