Silyer Mining at Karangahaks.
Result of LaMonte's Teat
Some time ago the Ivanhoe Gold Mm* mc Company, Karangahake, sent 70 tons of quartz from their workings to Mr La* Monte, at Melbourne, to be treated by his smelting process. A cable message received in Auckland yesterday shows that the results of the test are most gratifying, being as follows :—
Gold ... ...Bozs.ldwt.l6KM. Silver 2ozs. Sdwts. 12grs. The value is £8 16a per ten of quartz, and this should yield a splendid profit upon the working of the mines.. v ,,
SILVER FROM. WAIHI. There was not a little excitement hi Auckland yesterday over the discovery of silver in a private Waihi claim. Three.; or four large blocks of quartz arrived yei«f terday morning, and were exhibited in the office of Mr J. F. Clark, Insurance Build?, ings. The stone shows silver in such quantities as should make it >•*! valuable.—Star. '
