Borough Council Elections.
Yesterday there were contests in the Central and North Wards for the positions of Councillors for those divisions of the Borough. There was not much excitement displayed in either ward, but a goodly Dumber of those entitled to exercise a vote rolled op. In the Middle Ward Mr P. B. 6. Woodward acted as lit-turning Officer, Mr W. Crick as Poll Olerk, and Mr A. Bruce as scrutineer for Mr Kadford, one of the candidates. Dr. Kilgour was the other contestant in this ward, and shortly after six o'clock the Returning Officer announced tho result as fallows:— :\T. Kilgour ..,, ... 39 T. Eadford ... ... 149 | giving Mr Kadford a majority of 110 votes. In the North Ward the oontest was. keener; the friends of Messrs Bawden and Steedman exerting themselves to secure a victory. The result was announced by Mr W. Potts Iteturning Officer at the Gresham Hall as follows :—■ 8. Bawden ...' ... 66 J. B. Steedman ... ,\. 59 W. Smith ... ... 12 Informal votes ... ... 4 Thus Mr Bawden was refurned by a majority of 7 votes,
