CAMBRIA.
The hangingwali of the reef in the winze at No. 3 level was broken down this morning, with the result that ninety pounds of specimens were secured, gold being left showing in the bottom. The manager reported yesterday aa follows:—" The winze at No. 3 level is down a depth of 15ft. There is a good show of gold in the bottom ef> the winze for about a foot from the western side, and there is good gold showing for about sft. up the western. It appears at present that the run of gold is dipping nor'-west. On the western Bide of the winze at No. 3 level, there is still a strong body of quartz striking into the bangingwall; gold ia seen frequently in the Btofie in breaking the reef down. This wide place has always appeared the same as if it were a blow or elbow of the reef, but now it looks as if the reef were striking into the hangingwali. A short time will now suffice to prove this. The eastern drive is still being pushed ahead ; there is some nice looking mineral in the hanging* wall portion of the reef, but the rest of the quartz is rather white. In driving westward towards the Darwin, the reef is Bft. in thickness; gold is seen freely through the reef here in breaking it down. Two men on each shift are breaking out quartz from the second stope above No. 3 level; there is splendid mineral on the foot wall of the lode where they are work" ing, but they are not breaking the stone out where the gold is showing. In the eastern intermediate drive gold is still freely seen in the hangingwali portion of tbe reef. In the western intermediate drive we are squaring up to the Darwin boundary ; colors of gold have been seen in stringers of quartz in the hangingwali of the reef. A third stope westward has been started from the winze. Fair crashing stuff is still coming to hand from the stopes above No. 2 level. In the winze on the No. 1 reef, there is only one leader carrying a little gold, bat lying very flat. —H. W. Moobe." DARWIN. The manager reports for the past week ai follows :—The drive on the reef at No. 3 level is in a distance of 175 ft. from tbe joint crosscut. The hangingwall portion of the reef still continues to carry nice looking mineral; and there is splendid looking sandstone country in the hangingwali of the reef. No. 4 stope east is along a distance of 20ft. from the winze ; colors of gold are being seen in the hangingwali of. the reef. No. 3 stope west is along Bft. from the winze; colors of gold are also seen here in tbe stringers on the hanging* wall of the reef.—H. W. Moobe." DEEP LEVEL CROSS. . Cleaning up for this company will take place to-morrow, when a remunerative return is expected. GOLD RETURNS.
