Among the guests at the Lord Mayor's banquet at Guildhall last night, was Lord Wolseley, and in responding to the toast of his health, he eulogised the physique annd general conduct of the New South Wales Contingent whilst in the Soudan.
She latest news from the Soudan shows that the reports with respect to the Mahdi's death have been fully confirmed.

The rumor has gained currency to the effect that the Khalifa Abdoola, who, aspires to the position of successor to the Mabdi, has summoned a council of native chiefs to consider whether the war shall be continued. ,
