NAPIER.
] This day. On opening the railway station at Ortnondville this morning, Mr Douglas, stationmaster, discovered that the building had been entered by a back window at night, and two bags containing about £7 had been stolen. Twenty«six of the unemployed met the Mayor to-day, asking for temporary employment; the Mayor promised to communicate with the Government. Twentythree are laborers, eighteen being married and having 74 children between them; twelve of the number belong to other parts of the colony, chiefly Christchurch.
