The results of some interesting analyses published by Br Wallace, of Glasgow, | show in a marked manner the superiority for food purposes of coarse bread over that made of fine flour. la bran, which is the coarsest form of ground wheat, there is actually ten times more mineral matter than in the finest kind of flour. More than half of this mineral matter is phosphoric acid, which plays an important part in the formation of bone, and performs other functions in the human systems ; so that at the lowest estimate, bran is in many times a more wholesome and useful article of diet than whita flour, which is also much more expensive. It is to ba regretted that the present tendency among the working classes is to abandon coarse bread and oatmeal por* ridge for the prettier doßgh made of fine flour. It would be well for all of us if wo would consult both our pockets and oar stomachs, and go back to the honest fare of our forefathers.

For ordinary nervous toothache, which is caused by the nervous system being out of order or by excessive fatigue,' a very hot bath, will so soothe the nerves that sleep will naturally follow, and upon getting up the'patient will feel very much refreshed and the toothache will be a thing of the past. For what is known a* "jumping" toothache, hot, dry flannel applied to the- face and neck is very affective. For common toothache, whioh is caused by indigestion, or by strong sweet acid, or anything very hot or cold in a decayed tooth, a little piece of cotton steeped in strong camphor or oil of clovei is the best remedy.
