PARLIAMENTARY GOSSIP.

[By Telegraph.]

(FROM OWN OTJR CORRESPONDENT.) Wellington, This day. There is uothing much to phronicle today. Canterbury, West Coast, and Nelson members felicitated themselves at dinner on Saturday night.. This resulted in arranging for a.caucus of those in< teresled in the railway proposals, which took place this morning, '.whisn the desirableness of submitting proposals to the House for leaving the construction of the line to District Boards, similar to Harbor Boards as suggested the other day by Sir J. Vogel, was discussed ; bat so far as I cau make out nothing definite was decided upon.

I understand that the Union Company has definitely determined to tender for the San Francisco Mail Service.

I understand that the Public Works Statement will bo delivered on Friday. The intention is, I believe, to bring down the Estimates immediately afterwards, and prorogue in a fortnight. This, however, is not likely to occur, and we are again told this morning that a direct wanUof^confidence motion will be tabled this week. There is a strong disposition to get rid of Sir Julius Vogel before the prorogation, and it may be true that the attempt will be made. However, I give you the rumor for what it may be worth. .
