Considerable interest continues to be evinced in the operations being carried on in the winze being sunk from No. 3 level, from which several good hauls of specimens have already been obtained. The reef looks really well, and carries an abundance of favorable mineral, while in breaking down the hangingwall portion this morning the manager secured the good haul of 6Olbs of specimens. A good show of gold is still left in the bottom of the winze, and augurs well for further hauls of specimens being obtained. The reef in the eastern drive at No. 3 level shows some improvement, good minerals being seen in the stone; -while ~in~ the. western drire good colors of gold are seen throughout the quartz. Gold is seen pretty freely in the quartz coming to hand from the eastern intermediate drive. There is a good show of gold in the second stope over the western intermediate drive, and the reef has not been broken down here since the last haul of specimens was ob tamed. Good progress is being made with the sinking of the winze on the No. 1 (or stringer) lode, and gold is seen freely in the quartz. DARWIN. The hangingwall of the reef in the fourth stope east of the winze was broken down this morning, with the encouraging result that (Jlbs of picked stone were secured. The reef looks well, and some nice mineral is showing. The drive at JSo. 3 level is passing through an excellent class of sandstone ; the reef in the face looks well, and carries favorable minerals, while colors of gold are seen i ' when breaking down the hangingwall. CALEDONIAN. i The crushing of 80 loads of general dirt and 80lbs of picked stone for this company was completed to-day, and resulted in the good return of 182ozs retorfed gold, which was reduced on melting to day to 1820z3 16dwts. 13 loads crushed from the No. 2 reef yielded at the rate of 15 or 16dwts to the load ; the remainder of the dirt coming from the stopes on the Red Queen leader. The 801bs of picked stone yielded from loz to fozs per pound, Stoping is pro* ceedin/z on.the Red Queen leader both east and west of the winze, and colors of gold are seen in the quartz coming to hand. DEEP LEVEL CROSS. The quartz in the rise on the crosslode continues to look well, and in breaking down this morning good colors of gold were seen. The drive on the footwall leader is passing through a kindly class of sandstone, and gold is seen when breaking the quartz. Croshing will be commenced with six head of stampers at the Prince Imperial battery on Monday. SAXON. Stoping has been commenced on a branch of the No. 2 reef at No. 3 level, and colors of gold have been seen in the quartz broken. The stopss on No. 3 lode at No. 5 level continue to produce fair crushing dirt. GOLD "RETURNS. Pinafoue.—A finishing of 1 load of general dirt for Delahuuty and parly, tributers, has produced 4ozs 18dwts gold. Kxjbaniti Hnii.—Preece and party, tribulers, have banked loz gold.
