Mblboubnb, Yesterday. The Police authorities announce their determination to suppress cash betting on race-courses within the colony. The announcement has caused considerable comment in sporting circles. The folio winghorses have been scratched for the Melbourne Cop :—Duke of Athol, King of the Gipsies, and Revenge. Stdkkt, Yesterday. The Ministry hare given an unqualified denial to the statement of Mr Farneli that the present administration would break up before long. Ministers state there is nothing to warrant snch an expression of opinion as tbat given by Mr Farnell. The s.s. Triumph arrived last night from New Zealand.
