INVERCARGILL.

Yesterday. Tkomas Dawson, alias Roberts, who, while handcuffed, escaped from the Police by jumping off a train while in motion, and afterwards evaded capture for three weeks, was charged at the Police Court to-day with stealing a watch. Accused, who got a month for the larceny of an overcoat in May last, asked the Magistrate to deal with the case summarily, and said he was drunk when he committed the offence. He was sentenced to four months' imprisonment with hard labor.
