Vote of Credit Granted.

The House of Commons last night voted tiie Supplementary Credit asked for by the Government, the Eight Hon. Minister for War (Mr Smith) urging that it was needed to complete the necessary preparations pending the settlement with Russia.

Mr Smith added that the present Government was not prepared to accede to the demands made by Russia to their predecessors in office.

The Eight Hon. Robert Bourke informed the House that so far no arrangement had been completed for arbitration between England and Russia on the Afghan frontier question, but that the state of the case put forward was still under discussion between tbe two countries,
