This day. The Jewellery Robbery.
Wm. Davis, a Mulatto, arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the jewellery robbery, was brought up this morning, charged with receiving a watch, knowing the same to hare been stolen. The case was remanded until the 4th inst.
Government hare decided to grant a free passage by steamer to the delegate of the Napier Chamber of Commerce, who is proceeding to Samoa to report on the requirements as to the opening of trade with Samoa and other neighboring islands. Sir Julius Vogel is also oommunioating with the Chambers at Auckland, Dunedin, Christchurch, and Wellington, offering similar concessions in each case. The offer is conditional that the reports of the delegates are not to be of a confidential nature, aud must be published on their return.
