Tbe second night of Woodyeav'a Electric Circus opened to a well-filled bouse —tbe sea of heads in the pit and galleiy testifying to the appreciation felt by the public at the reduction of the tariff by the mansigament. The bill of fare presented was in the main the same aa thst of (ha previous night, with tbia difference : that the clever performances of the troupe was far more au fait, et phis joli, than the previous night,, eimply because the company had had tirao to recover from tbe arduous toil and necessary trouble always entailed in forming a fresh camp. The different acts presented were heartily received, and it would be invidious to make a distinction, only in the one fact of Cuzco, who astonished ■ tho on-lookere with bis performances on tho invisible wire. He appears with two while fautail pigeons, so tame and well trained that he seems to do whatever he pleasea with them, and all this whilst on the wire in mid-air. It was altogether a graceful feat, aud elicited well-deaerved applause. The usual wind-up with the funny part of the business sent the audience home in right good humor. They open again to»night with a new change of programme. A matinee is also announced for to-morrow afternoon, for the convenience of Echoole and families which will give the little ones a treat that seldom oeours in our midst.
The steamship Triumph, now on ber first voyage from Sydney, is about due in Auckland, with 400 tons of general cargo and 2000 tonß of coal. In, a northern town in Victoria a certain c'ergynian, well known for his scrupulous views on the sin of Sabbath breaking, is accustomed to set a good eianiple by having hi* Sunday dinner cooked and laid out on the Saturday. Me Mow ATT, the solicitor of the petitioners who asked for the recent dumrnyiem enquiry, has requested the Land Board to forward to the Registrar of Lauds the evidence taken, and suggests that looking at the resolution passed the Board should recommend the Minister to secure a fuller and comprehensive enquiry by the Land Board. It was decided that the 24 deferred payment settlors be called upon to show cause why their holdings should not bo forfeited for non-payment of rent.
