WELLINGTON.
This day. Typhoid fever is prevalent in town. Fourteen patients are in the hospital. The mail steamer Australia with the London mails of 23rd inst.', left. San Francisco for Auckland on Sunday last, one day late. The,body of a fully developed newly born infant was discovered in Fitzherbert Avenue, with the side of its head knocked in. An inquest will be held. The police are investigating the case.
