MOANATAIEI EXTENDED.

The country in the north-east crosscut is gradually improving as the drive is advanced, and a number of stringers, some of which- are an inch in thickness, are crossing the face. In breaking these this morning the manager discovered gold showing in some of them freely, thus proving that the locality is auriferous; and as the sandstone is now of a better class for gold, it is not unlikely that when Montgomery's reef (which according to survey is 25ft ahead) is reached, gold will be found. CALEDONIAN. A few days ago the manager commenced sinking a winze on No. 1 reef at ..No. 2 level, in the vicinity of the rich old stopes. The wjmze is novr down a depth of about 10 feet and, in breaking the reef, which averages 3 feet in width, the manager secured several stones showing large blotches of gold. This is very encouraging, as the locality is a likely one, and the reef looks very well, carrying favorable minerals. _ „ DARWIN", .......
