Wemjngton, Yesterday. Major Cautley, whose services were only allowed to the Colonial Government for a period of twelve months by the British Government, and whose time has now expired, will be succeeded by Capt. Badbftin, who tmved here to- day.
The Minister of Defence has issued an order that the New Zealand forces are to be clothed in blue cloth, but any variations in the.facings, if desired, will be allowed. The Volunteers will be permitted to choose their own color.
Dxjnedin, Yesterday
The defence works at Taiaroa Heads are nearly completed. The A.C. men there have mounted the three 64-pounders and the 7-inch guns.
