In the House of Commons last night Lord Edmund Fitzmaurice, Under-Secre-tary of Foreign Affairs, announced that Government had received a telegram from Sir Peter Lumsden, dated Sunday* April 26, in which, in which he stated that the Eussian troops were advancing up the Valley of Murghab, and had occupied Maruchalc. London, April 28. Persistent rumors are afloat that a second engagement between the Eussians and the Afghans has taken place, and that the Russians were defeated with the loss of one thousand.
