The Lyell Times of- the 11th instant sayr:—The hands in the United Alpine mine have " struck," and work inside is nfc present discontinued. We learn that tho ■tand taken by the men is consequent upon a reduction made in the rate of wages heretofore current in the district. ' The weekly -pay, up to the present, has been £3 10s; and the reduction resolved upon means 10a 6d per shift, in place of * 'lls 8d formerly, equal to £3 3s per week. The blanket-washers' and feeders' wages h.«i also been reduced.
