. CAMBRIA.

The manager reported as follows :— " The crosscut which is going in to cut s

the reef at the bottom of No. 2 winze touched the reef this morning, but.have not broken it down yet. The No. 2 winze is down a distance of 85ft; the reef ia tho bottom is 4ft in thickness, and is carrying good mineral. Colors of gold are seen when breaking down the hangingwall por- -. tion of the reef in the eastern drive. . Stoping operations are being continued ai i usual on the reef above No. 2 level. 40lbs of specimens have been ■ obtained from these stopes during the week. The stopes over the intermediate, drive are still turning out good crushing dirt. The crosscut at 19*0.1 level is in a distance of 26ft in good-looking country for'gold.' Only two shifts have been employed hero during the week. Tbe stuff at the bat* { tery has not been shaping so well this I week as last. About 166 loads have been crushed for 4040zs amalgam.—H. W. Moore." ' DAEWIN. The manager reports for the past week: —" Joint crosscut at. No. 3 level is in a distance of 192 ft. from the shaft. There is some good-looking quartz in tbe face of the drive, bnt I have not seen any gold in it yet. Colors of gold are seen when breaking down the reef in tho stopes above No. 2 level. The stuff going through the battery is not shaping very well—about 28 loads have been crushed for nearly 29ozs amalgam.—H. W. MOOBE." ' ' SAXON. Retorting took place to-day tor the excellent return of 73ozs lOdwts retorted gold, reduced on melting to 72ozs. For this 34 loads of general dirt and 20 pounds of picked stone, principally from the No. 1 reef, were treated. The winze on No. 3 leader is down about 40ft, and strong dabs of gold were seen in it to-day. At No. 6 level a leader about four inches wide has been found in the crosscut, but the manager is not certain that it corres- ' ponds with No. 3 lode. DEEP LEVEL GHOSS. The cleaning up for this company at the 'Herald battery this morning produced the ' payable return of 28ozs gold, from 28 loads of general dirt obtained from No. 6 leader. This, with the return banked a few days ago from the cleaning up at the Kuranui battery, makes a total of 56 . loads treated for 49ozs 13dwts gold. The manager intends to put on two men to stope.on JN To. 2 leader. MOANATAIEI EXTENDED. The north-east crosscut is now in a distance of about 115 ft. - The reef in the face is about 2ft. wide, but the country surrounding it is of a'dark blue color, and very soft. There, is yet about 75ft. to drive before Montgomery's shaft will be reached, and it is probable thatthb country^ will change for the better as the shaft ia approached. The contractors in the shaft are making good headway,' and have sunk Bft. since starting. GOLD EETTJJRNS. Kueinui Hill—in additional 13dwts of gold wan banked by this com* paoy to-day.
