Auckland, Yesterday. FIRST DAY. The following are the concluding events of the first day's racing :'•— Sbhino Raci, of SOsovi. —Lumsden's Rewi, lOOiovs, 1; Sir Bedevere, 2; Nannie 3. ' SECOND DAY. The tecond days races were a great •uccess. It wai.magnificent weather, and ■boat 4000 to 5000 people were present Fixing Stakes, " lOOiovb, £mile.—J. Marshall's Thunderbolt (A. Sutherland),
1; Mitrailleuse, 2; Eosebud, 3. Sattannella got fint away and Thunderbolt last, but the latter closed up, and drew away in the straight, winning easily by 1| length, Rosebud 3 lengths behind Mitrail lease. Tine, lmin 18fsecs. . Dividend, 30s.
Shobts Handicap, one mile.—Symes' Xalo (Byera), 1 Cunningham's Dauphin , (Clifford), 2; Lunisden'i Alpha (Thorpe). 3. Minerva, Bewi, Necklace and Sir jfoderere also ran. This start was a bad one, Dauphin jumping off with the lead. Minerra and Dauphin lead up to the back of toe course, and these three raced up together until the entranoe to the straight up which Necklace led, the others being •11 close handy. The straggle in the straight wai a brilliant one, Minerva, Dauphin, Alpha, Necklace and Kalo all ran abreast aa they passed the grand stand, . and none had the advantage until within • few strides of the post, when Kalo, to the surprise of all, shot out from bis opponents and won by half-a-length from the Dauphin, Alpha a head behind the Dauphin. There was great excitement at the finish - among the spectators, as there were five horses in it until a few strides from home. Time, lmin 45£secs. £839 in the totalisator, 3 on the winner. Dividend, £251145.
Autumn Steeplechase,'loOiiovs., 3| miles: Profit's Macaroni (Edwardo). 1; Cbadwick's New Yea* (Mann), 2; Bar* ron'i 'Director (Honor), 3. Mandler, "Whalebone, Sunray, King, Julia Ado, Seagull, and Marquis also ran. Macaroni got first away, but New Year was teen in front when be took the poßt-and-rail fence, with Seagull next. New Year ■till maintained the lead over the stone wall and the old water jump, but Seagull waa in front when they went up the bill, with Julia Ann and New Year next. |?ew Year led down the hill, and be came o?er the sod wall just in front of Macaroni. King and Macaroni came down the hill almost together, but King was beaten at the ston* wall. Macaroni led into the straight, closely followed bylNew Year. The former appeared to haw the race well in band at the last hurdle, but fifty yards from the post New Year came up with a great rush, and Macaroni won by a abort head, Director twenty lengths ahead of Chandler. All took the jumps well jave Marquis. Time, 9mins. 46|secs. There were £1271 in the totalisator; diridend, £9135. A protest was entered by Mr Leunard against Director receiving third money on the ground that, the jockey did not take the second hurdle,of the double in front of the grand stand. Eilebslh Plate, IGOsots, six furlongs: Marshall's Thunderbolt (Sutherland), 1; Derringer, 2; Eosebud, 3. Uno also ran. Won by halfa-lengthl. Time, lmin. 20? sees. Diridend, 30s. Autumn Handicap, 2Cosots, 1£ mile.— Marshall's Turquoise (Sutherland), 1; Buzzard, 2; Woodnjmph, 3. Libeller, Mitr«ilieuse,?Mysteryi Emir Bey, Poet, Halo, and Nannie also ran. Libeller got - fimt away, and he and Mitrailleuse led up the back of the course, while at the \ -mile post Woodnympb, Libeller, and Mitrailleuse were all racing together, with Tarv quoise going up fast. At the half-mile j post Turquoise came up well, and all his opponents were soon beaten, he winning ' by a length and a half from Buzzard. Time, 2mins 46£secs. Diridend, £3. P*eb Handicap, SOsots.—J. 6allagher!s BerolTer (Kidd), 1; Mystery, 2; Dauphin, 3. Victoria, Miner?a, Buzzard, Cheyalier, Alpha, and Claud also ran. This race was jun in the dark, and the start was not a vary good one. Won by a length. Totali«ator diridend, £19;
