Waiorongomai Mining.

All the stampers in the battery.have been hung up for the last four days, viz . Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and today, and only 10 stampers were at work .on Monday, and Tuesday last; through lack of quartz. All the berdans are at work, viz.: tl.e 24 in the bnttery, and 32 in tailings plant for New Find, ond other 3 in tailing! plant for Premier. It is intended to make a fresh start on Monday next with the full number of stampers. New Find.—The principal work af present consists of (hiring on No. 2 reef north, to connect with the winze sunk from the Arizona lerel. This reef has a good healthy appearance, and the run of payable dirt that was obtained in the Arizona level heretofore, ought soon be reached. The winze on No. 2 reef 1 from the. low lerel, has been sunk 10ft, the reef show ing some rery fair gold. The last week or two, however, the sinking of this winze nil had to be discontinued in consequence 'of the quantity of water met with. At the battery this week the dirt obtained from this winze has been crushed separately, v and he« turned out well. Instructions have been receired to commence the low lerel for No. 2 reef, and tenders will shortly be called for the carrying out of this work. The stopes on No. 2 reef are still yielding fair crushing dirt; some good crushing dirt is also being obtained from the surface .ofNo. 1 reef; this latter has also been kept separate at the battery during crushing. "' Pbemieb.—At the intermediate level, a crushing is now being taken out, and the quartz shows a little gold. Crushing will commence next week. From No. 2 reef a oruihing is also being taken out. Driving on the No. 2 reef is in progress, at that portion of the reef where the 2oz per track stiff was so recently obtained, with the expectation of picking up the same ran of gold. May Queen.—Two men engaged prospecting on this claim, uncovered this week, a rery nice leader, from which a , few pounds of fair picked stone were ob- _ tamed. These men are now engaged put* - ting in a drive under where thia gold was -obtained, which is on the tramway lerel. Work in the low level has been temporarily suspended, bat will be resumed as soon as the call just made has been collected. -• ; D'akosd Guilt. —Good progress is being made with the sinking of the winze. Canabian. —Two men are employed on • this claim prospecting on the surface reef. A little gold is obtainable. No work is at present being carried on in the tunnels.— ': News. '■
