Discovery of Human Remains.

SUPPOSED TO BE OF THE MISS.

ING MAN DIXON.

The father of a girl named McAllister, aged about 13 years, reported this forenoon to the police that while his daughter was mushrooming with another girl, ihe came across the remains of a mania the ti.tree a little way from what is known as the Lovers' Walk, on the Collarbone Bange. Detective Doolan and Constable Bern proceeded at once to the spot, and dis* covered the skeleton lying face down« wards, and folly clad. Upon attempting to remove it, it was found that only the bones remained; and under the.breast, ftf' the' fingers of the right hand, a sheath knife was discovered, covered with rust. The skull was found abonl five yards down* hill from the body, having apparently been severed from the trunk. The clothes found on the remains tend to answer the. description given to the police of those worn by George Dixon, who- ,-wa» last seen on the 7th of September last at the Thames, and the sum of £3 10s in gold, and 9s Id in change were found in the pockets of the clothes found on the remains. An inquest will pcobablr be. held to : n»rrow at the Bowen 'Hotel, whence the remains were removed.
