AUCKLAND.
This day,
A seaman named J. Erwin was stabbed twice in the abdomen by a Frenchman named Barber at Te Kopuru on Saturday. Erwin may recover. Barber is in custody but denies the .charge.
No communication can be held with the crew of the Thomas Russell owing to the flooded state of, the Motu river and the tremendous sea running. The crew and passengers are safe at Heccombes run.
