TJ( accordance with the provisions of 1 "Tbe Cemeteries Act, 1882." the following proposed 13ye-Lsw is published for general information, and notice, is hereby given that such proposed Bye* Law will be considered and passed by resolution at a Meeting of the' Council of the County of Thames to bo held on the Ist day of April next, at their Offices, Mary street, Shortland. E. W. Honis, County Clerk. Thames, March 10th, 1885. BYE-LAW No. ; All graves shall be dug, filed in,. and dressed by the Sexton or other servant of the Council appointed by t.bom for such purpose. No grave shall be dug Icbs than 6 feet deep, and no Coffin shall bo leßs than 3 feet below the surface of the ground. Graves will be dug to a depth of 12 feel upon special application to, and the consent obtained of, the Council, and upon an extra payment of 2s 6d for each foot below the first 6 feefc PUBLIC GRAVES giving NO rights to the ground, and in which any other bodies may be interred by the Council: Adults Children over 12 under 12 years of years of age ' ■ age. s. d. a. d. FENCES, STONES, MONUMENTS. No fence, head stpne, tombstone, or monument may be erected around or upon any public grave, and only upon or around any private grave, after a plan thereof has been submitted to and approved by the Council. All fences, headstoneß, tombstones, or monu-' xnentß not maintained in substantial repair will be removed by the Council at the cost and risk of the owner of the privata grave to wfcich they belong. TRANSFER OF PRIVATE 6KRAVEB. Any purchaser, executor, or duly appointed attorney of any owner of a private grave, with exclusive right of burial in perpetuity therein, may transfer his or her or juch interest in the said private grave to any other person, upon satisfactory proof to the Council of having authority to make' Buoh transfer, and upon payment to tbe Council of 10s 6d, and production of receipt for such private grave. LOST RECEIPTS FOR PRIVATE GRAVES. • Duplicate receipts for private graves will \ie granted to persons applying for same upon payment of a fee of ss. Register of Public and Priv3tn Graves in any of the Thames County Public Cemeteries, together -with the plan of such Cemetery, can be searched and inspected during office hours upon payment of a fee of la for each such search or inspection., All Fees and Charges must be paid between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the office of the Council. Fees for interments must be paid by the undertaker or person conducting the funeral, and upon such feea being piid a warrant authorising the Sexton to bury will be given, and euch warrant must be given by the Undertaker, or psrson conducting the funeral, to the Sexton, at his residence, 6 working hours at least before the hour fixed for .the funeral, except upon certificate from the Medical, Officer-to. the Board of Health that immediate interment is necessary, in which case the Undertaker Bhall give personally to the Sexton tbe warrant for burial and such certificate within two hours after death of per* son to be interred. ■/ • ■ " - ' VAULTS. , \ •■■■■ Vaults may be f onstruoted within any sec 1 tion secured as a private grave by the owner thereof. Plans with description of such vaults shall be submitted to and approved by the Council before construction. They shall be, lined throughout with brickwork or concrete, and covered in with brickwork, concrete, or stone set in caraent. The entrance to a vault shall be either by a stone at top or by an iron door, securely fastened. Coffins placed in vaults must be lined with lead or other approved materiel, and bo firmly and securely soldered. Coffins may be laid in vaults, and covered in with concrete or cement. The escape of any noxious rapour must be prevented by the owner of the vault. All soil iemoved' in excavating, and the refuse or overplus of material used in the construction of vaults must be depoaitad in such place or places as may be pointed out by the Sexton, and all grass or paths injured made good by the owner of the vault. '. For each interment in any vault tbe 1 same fee shall be pajd to tbe Council a3 for public graves, but tha cost of opening and closing the vault shall be borne by the owner thereof. Vaults not maintained in good repair will be filled in and closed by the Council, and no further burials allowed therein. CERTIFICATES OF DEATH. Certificates of Death must be delivered to the, Sexton by the Undertaker or other person conducting the funeral, beforo interment of the body, or the burial of thCbsdy will-not be permitted, and in the case of a still-born child a certificate, as required by law, be furnished to the Sexton, or the body will not be interred.
