The above match was played at the Parawai Gardens today, the visitors having arrived from Auckland by the Enterprise this morning. The teams were captained by G. Clark (Thames) and H. Thomas (Holland's). The local captain won the toss and sent hit opponents to the wickets, J. B. Me!l and Ct. Mills facing. tho bowline of Pearce and Bucban. After making 7 and 8 respectively, both were bowled by Buchan, E. O'Hare and W. Beard taking their places, but aft?r making 3 and 8 the former was caught by Pearoe and the latter by Airey off Pearce. Thomas (captain) next defended the timbers, brit had only secured 3 when he was bowled by Pearce (Ibw). Henn and Murphy were more successful, the former being disposed of by Pearce for 7, and the latter by Buchan for 4. Eurfoot, and E. Mell came next. After making 10, the former" was caught by Clark, off Pearce, and E. Mell was bowled clean by Pearce after making 7. E. Waring and W. Mell were the last men; Waring made 4 ere his stumps fell to Buchan, and Mell carried out his bat for 6, the innings closing' for 66. Pearce took 6 wickets and Buchan 4 wickets, for 33 runs etch. , . The Thamesitrs commenced batting, Airey and. Egginton facing Thomas and Beard. Aireywas soon despatched, being caught by E. Mell off Beard, making 0, Bucban taking his place. Egginton was caught by Burfoot, after making 1, Clark (captain) following. The latter made a fine hit for 4 off Thomas, but was clean bowled the next ball—3 for 5. Smith succeeded, making 8 before he was bowled by Thomas—4 for 15. Lough followed, but was clean bowled the third ball—s for 15. Allen came nt>xt, but making 2, got his leg before wicket—6 for 17, Aitken taking his place.. Bucban, one of the first men in, now made l.and was bowled by Beard in the first ball of his over—7 for 17. Pearce followed, and Aitken, after making 1, was caught by O'Hare. Harrison succeeded, but was caught by O'Hare off Thomas. Newman, the last man, then went in, and made 7, when he was bowled by Thomas, Pearce carrying out his bat for 14 The innings closed for 41, 25 behind their opponents.
