On Wedneeday Sir Julius Vogel received a deputation of gentlemen interested in the development of the Thames hematite paint industry at Oram's Hotel, Hobson streot, Auckland. Col. A DEPIOBABIiE accident happened in Cranmer Square, Christchurch, yesterday, whereby a young man Edward Carter lost his life. He hired a horse from a livery etabie, and the animal bolted with him. He clung to the horse's neck, but was thrown off, and the horse fell on bim in olearing a fence. When picked up be was unconscious, and died in the hospital shortly after.
