AUCKLAND.
This day. Walter Saudders aged 5 years, fell into Calliope Dock yesterday while fishing, and was drowned.
Arrived : Ringarooma, from Sydney. Mr Ashbury and the Maoris'
Grievances.
The natives have presented Mr Ashbury, late M.P. for Brighton, with, a number of curios. Mr Ashbury, on returning thanks, pointedly refered to the grievances of the Maoris, and their certainty of receiving redress Jfrom the British Parliament, tellipg them they had done well by send ing their chiefs to England, and that no doubt their case would ultimately receive full justice and consideration from the British Parliament, whatever Government might be in office. Mr Gorst he told them, had their case in hand, and he himself, who had once been in Parliament and might be. so again, would farther their caie in every possible, way. It was bis intention, he said, on his return to give a lecture on INew Zealand and tho* King natives*; aru! to lp\\ the people of England how great was the esteem of the King and his people for them; sending them English pa per« containing reports of bii lecture.; { ■ '•■"■■■' -.
