AUCKLAND.
This day. The Government invite competitive designs for a Custom House for Auckland, the cost not to exceed £12,000. A Sad Case, Mr J. Stodart, Secretary to the Chamber of Commerce,who failed recently, is suffering from mental derangement caused by financial troubles. His sons, who were the cause of his difficulties, left suddenly for Sydney on Friday.
