A layer of gold-bearing wash is reported to have been found in the tunnel Mr* Antonio Zala is* driving to test the coal deposits at Boucher's Gully, Kanieri; the layer is of considerable thickness, and Mir Zala estimates it will yield about 3dwts to the load. „ ■'■..,

For the week ending January 24, the Keep-it-Dark (Reefton) Company's yield was 4530zs of amalgam from 210 tons, and 28Oozs retorted gold for the fortnight.' ■'■'-' '■•■.'•'

The Mokitika morning paper says there are now five parties on gold at the new ■ lead at Rimu: M'lntyre and party have just bottomed. Their waihdirt averages' from five to six feet, and a trial washing went 3dwts to the load. • '

Mr C. Malfroy, of Kosg, one of the directors of the William Tell Company, states that Messrs Morgan andGaghardi, who are working at the company's mine. Cedar Creek, reported to the directors that whilst driving a tunnel in an easterly direction from the All Nations Company's tunnel, they struck a well definea reef, three feet thick, showing gold freely, having on the north wall a vein of rubbly ' qnartz about eight or nine inches thick, from which gold Tanging from l&wt. to.. to the dish was washed, besides numerous small specimens.
