ASHBURTON.

This day. The E. Hod. Richardson, Minister of Public Works, arrired at Ashburton on Thursday evening. At 6 o'clock this uiorning ha was out inspecting the sites of the traffic bridge and Various other projected works. At 9 a.m. a deputation of the Borough Council and County .Chairman waited on him and accompanied him

to the river bed pointing out the spot on which it is proposed to erect a bridge. Mr Richardson generally approved of the plans of the bridge drawn by Mr Baxter. County Engineer. He said it was the intention of the Government to make excursion trains very general.
