New Gold Discovery,
An important discovery of gold is said to, have been made at MatanuUabarakehe, a place on the East Coast of the Coromandel Peninsula; between Port Charles and Kennedy Bay. A small quantity of quartz taken from reefs cropping out on the sea beach has yielded at the rate of 32ozs of gold .to the ton, and the crushing and retorting of several hundredweight of quartz from the same locality gare the promising return of 2*ozi to the ton. It is reported that the proprietors of the land are about to throw it open as a goldfield.— Star.
