From the hangingwu'l portion of the reef stone yielding geed prospects is now being got, rod as the 'ace is fast approaching the bottom of the lower winze, a further improvement may be looked for. In the Inverness, Pbonrx, andCanadie j operations are going on, but nothing of importance has turned tip in these mines. The tremway is idle, there Laing no steff in the hoppers at tbe mines to keep the men employe J. A suffi eient quantity will probably have accumulated before tbe middle of next week, when a freih st r rt will be made. The only work at present going on at the battery is the grinding of tailings for the New Find Co. The sound of stampers ws!l not be heard for a few days yet. The parly sent out by the Prospecting Association rre at work in the neighbor* hr 3d of the head of Sfrmey Creek. They have succeeded in finding very good surface prospects, and are now engaged puttHg in a drive to test the reef from which the gold is supposed to have come. Loose stones yielding goci mortar prospects also abound in the vicinity, and there is every reason to believe that the search for pay* ing reefs oh this side of tbe mountain will yet be successful. —News.
