AUCKLAND.
This day.
The Auckland cricket team will leave Onehunga by the Hawea to-morrow. It is very uncertain, even up to now, who will form the team, but it will probably consist of W. E. Barton, D. Lynch, W. W. Robinson, S. W. Coxon, C. MacCormick, C. S. Stafford, E. Mills, J. Testro, W. Meldrum, G. P. Ewing. and H. Kissling. Three matches are to be played—against a Canterbury provin« cial team, Dunedin, and Wellington. Bobinsou is managing the trip. As the team is a weak one (Arneil, Dewes, Blair, Buckland, Yates, and the Lankhams being out) it is felt the Association acted wisely in refusing to give it the status of a representative team. A prominent cricketer says he can pick an eleven to beat Eobinson's team. Hugh McCulloch, a gutndigger, attempted suicide by stabbing himself in the abdomen at Northern Wairoa. He was found with his entrails protruding, but is likely to recover. He had been drinking for months, and had previously attempted suicide by hanging.
