An official telegram from Tonquin, published to»day, announces that the French position at a village near Chu was recently attacked by three thousand Chinese, andj after severe fighting, the latter were repulsed with heavy loss. The French forces suffered but slightly.
(Keceired December 19, 2.15 p.m.) London, December 18. Reward Offered for Dynamiters. The Court of Common Council has voted a reward of five [thousand pounds for information leading to the conviction of those guilty of the recent outrage at London Bridge. Dr Wordsworth, Bishop of Lincoln, has resigned his See owing to ill-health. Seizingl of Dynamite. The authorities at Dover have seized two hundred weight of dynamite, which arrived there yesterday on board a vessel from the Continent.
