Auckland, Yesterday. Black Rose has been scratched for all engagements at the Summer Meeting. This day. " Hippona's " training notes :—Turquoise and Wcodnymph were sent the Cup distance in company, being picked up in the last mile by Youth. The gallop was the best yet seen on the course, and the way Woodnymph stuck to Turquoise throughout surprised those present. She was very little distressed when she pulkd up. Welcome' Jack went twice round alone on the plough at a strong pace, the last three-quarters of a mile being got over in 1.20. Nemesis was treated to a fast mile, and the jumping horse Linwood did long slow work. Sou-wester and Ugly Buck (in company) were sent once round at top speed, both going freely and well, but the first named could evidently have left his companion at any part of the journey. Clarence and Barbary did serviceable work together; the last named showed no signs of lameness, but moved a trifle short. After cantering once round, Administrator broke away for a fast spin, covering the last three-quarters of a mile in 1.19. The Poet went twice round at a fair pace, and Minerva did a fast mile and a quarter. Macaroni was sent three times round, going very strongly. Libeller and Tetford did walking exercise. Necklace did not put in an appearance. New Plymouth, This day. Mr J. O. Evett has been appointed handicapper for the Autum Meeting of the Taranaki Jockey Club. j Invehcabgili., This day. The race horse Sunlight, owned by Mr Lawson, while runuing in the County Plate yesterday, injured his spine, and had to be shot this morning.
