RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT THIS DAY.
[Before L. Ehrenfried and E. P. Tizard, Esqs., J's.P.! CIVIL SIDE" Adjourned Cases. Wilson v. Hohepa Hikairo. — Claim, £7 17s 3d. Mears and Co. v. the same.—Claim, £19 15s 9d. Melhose v. Deeble.—Claim, £56 for calls.
In the first two cases, on the application [of Mr Miller, who appeared for the plaintiffs, they were adjourned till the 20th February ; and in,the third case a postponement of hearing was granted till the 9th January.
Depended Cases
Henderson v. Buckley.—Claim, £4 7s. Mr Lush for plaintiff, and Mr Miller for defendant. This case had been adjourned from last Court day for the production of evidence.—O. Garrett, hotelkeeper, Puriri, deposed that plaintiff went to his house and said he was going to stay there, as he had to build some chimneys in the neighborhood. When leaving he asked for his bill, and said Buckley was to pay it.—The case was further adjourned till to-morrow to enable Mr Kenrick, who had partially heard the case, to deal with it.
Miller v. Cleary.—Claim, £5 ]s.— Judgment for amount claimed, and costs, 10s.
Johnson v. Wiremu Te Huia.—Mr Miller for plaintiff, who claimed £4, balance of account for goods.—Judgment was given for the amount sued for, and costs £1 0s 6d.
Judgment Summonses
McEee v. Stewart.—Claim, £3, for damage done to a billiard table.—Mr Miller for the defence.—The Bench told plaintiff that he would have to show that defendant, who was a minor, was in a position to pay the amount owing.—Defendant admitted that judgment was given against him for £3 during the past twelve months.—The Bench held that although someone should pay the amount due, they could not tnake an order in the case against the boy sued.
