BLENHEIM.
This day.
At a meeting of shareholders of tbe Picton Coal Company, held yesterday, sixteen were present. It was resolved by Beven votes to three to liquidate. Messrs Godrey and Fisk were appointed liquidators, and a meeting was proposed to be called that day month to confirm the resolutions and give outside shareholders an opportunity of attending. The directors laid no report before the meeting, and it was stated that there was no money on hand. Telegrams protesting against the liquidation were received from Wellington and Wanganui shareholders. Owing to the number present at the meeting it was doubtful if it was legally held, and the chairman agreed to consult the company's solicitors on the subject. A liberal league for Wairau has been established upon a platform in harmony with the Trade and Labor Councils, and other liberal associations in the colony.
