la the afternoon, at two o'clock, the Schoolroom was thrown open to parents and friends, and a very interesting exhibi tion of the work of the pupils was presented. The display of crewel work was very creditable, and the proficiency of the pupils spoke volumes for the attention wbicb must. have been paid to them by

their revd. teachers. The wax flowers shown were really wonderful instances of the care bestowed upon their preparation. The exhibits of Misses Douglas, Mahoney, and Neal, were well worthy of particular mention, and two crosses covered with white wax crystallized flowers, exhibited by the revd. Superioress were very pretty. A bunch of wax flowers, under a glass shade, which was also the work cf the principal of the school, was very attractive. In the exhibits of crewel and arrasen work, Misses Maho- j ney, Kiely, Neal, Gillies, Twohill, Callan, Carpenter, Law, McDonald, Sullivan, Quadri, and McCurdy each displayed considerable taste, more especially in the cases of the bracket and drape work on Gipsy tables, done by Misses Mahouey, Gillies, and Neal. Two very handsome cushions, intended for an Auckland bazaar, were shown by the reverend superioress. One was covered with poonah-painted velvet, and the other—a very handsome piece of work—was crewel work on satin. A satin cushion, covered with white velvet, poonah-painted by Miss Mahoney, and an exhibit of point lace made by the same young lady, were much admired. Miss N. Mahoney's black satin cushion was worthy of of notice. A pretty crewel worked cover for a Gipsy table was shown by Miss Callan, and some very nicely worked tea cosies by Misses Law, N. Mahoney, Carpenter, B. McDonald, and Kate Twohill, showed considerable taste on the part of the fair young workers. Miss Foy exhibited a handsome black satin covered cushion worked with silk in crewel, and brackets and drape work shown by Miss Kiely elicited considerable praise. Slippers worked by Miss McCurdy, and a smoking cap from the hands of Miss Quadri were very neatly executed. The display of a richly-wrought drapery by Miss O'Sullivan, a crewel-work cushion by Miss E. Law, and some very handsome beadwork done on velvet by Misses McDonald, Twohill, Tasker, and Gillies was the cause of much favorable comment. After an examination of the exhibits by the visitors, the following proramme was gone through:—
