OUR MINES.

NEW PRINCE IMPERIAL.

The news conveyed by the telegram published in our local columns is of importance, as it holds out a strong hope that the No. 2 reef at the Wo. 7 level may yet be of good payable grade, which was thought doubtful from the ap« pearance of the body of quartz in hand. The manager was doubtful whether he had the whole of the reef in hand, and intended to extend the crosscut ea soon as he broke through to the winze, with the double object of determining this point; and also picking up the hanging wall leader, , and this work will now be pushed on without delay. It was thought rather strange that the lode should be so small, and contain so little mineral, when in the winze it was such a strong, well defined lead, but the discovery that the real No. 2 reef is still in the hangingwall satisfactorily explains. No time will be lost ia opening up the lode and testing its value, and the operations will be watched with greater interest than hitherto on account of the fact that another 70ft. of sinking will take the shaft down to the 640 ft level, and if good gold is found here, at 570 ft below the surface,-it will be a great encouragement to other companies to push on low level prospecting works.

GOLD EETUENS. Magnolia.—Eabe and party, tributers, have crushed 7 loads of quartz at Ball's mill for the return of 14ozs lldwts gold. Adelaide—Williams and party to-daj banked 2oas 17dwts gold.
