OUR MINES.

CAMBRIA. Retorting took place to-day at the Thames Golden Crown battery, but ihe yield is disappointingly small, the melted weight being only 2720z5. The quantity of specimens treated was nearly 5001bsj, and over 100 loads of general dirt were &Uo put through DEEP LEVEL CROSS. The manager to-day inspeoted the workings from the Winding Association shaft, but owiDg to the water be did Dot go below

No. 2 level. Two men are now engaged diverting the stream from the shaft, and in a day or two the engine will be started and the shaft baled. At the Imperial No. 5 level, the crossleader has been driven on altogether quite 90ft., maintaining an average width of fully a foot, and showing gold each breaking for the whole distance. A little quartz is now appearing in the dig, but whether it is in any way connected with the No. 3 reef, the junction of which is expected, the manager is unable to say at present. WAIOTAHI. The manager late this afternoon lodged 2350za retorted gold (reduced to 2340zs on melting) in the Baak of New Zealand, being the good payable result from the crushing of 210 tons of general ■ dirt during the month. I THAMES GOLDEN OEOWN. The manager to-day banked 64ozg lOdwts melted gold, being the result from the month's operations, which hare been confined to the surface workings on low grade quartz. KUKANUI HILL. The winze from the tunnel level has holed through to the Albion 80ft. drive, and the manager is now opening up blocks on Nos. 1 and 2 lodes, trial parcels from which gave good payable returns' 1 at last crushing. QUEEN OF BEAUTY. The pumps were stopped to-day, while the shaft men added another length of pipe to the columns below No. 10 level. The depth is now about 47ft, acd the contractors, who have four shifts employed, are making fast progress, having sunk no less than 9ft during last week. A change is apparent in the north-west corner of the shaft, where a darker sandstone, with a little quartz, is just coming in. The manager thinks the quartz will prove to be a branch of the reef worked on that side of the shaft by Mr Morrison. IVANHOE (KARANGAHAKE.) fhe manager last night brought down 2450zs retorted gold, which was reduced on melling at the Bank of New Zealand to-day to 2370zs 14dwts. The quantity of quartz treated was only 190 tons, all from the low level workings, and Mr Hansen expects to have another good yield to hand before Christmas. ' *:
