OUR MINES.

CAMBRIA

Another five head of stamps was started on this company's dirt at the Golden Crown battery, making a total of 15 now employed three shifts per day. This force will be kept running all next week, and cleaning up will probably take place on Saturday. The manager reports that there is nothing fresh in the mine. MOANATAIRI EXTENDED. The manager received instructions yesterday to start a southern crosscut in order to intersect the Cambria reef, and a shift commenced work last night. The drive will be fully manned, so as to extend it as rapidly as possible. The level at which the crosscut will be driven is above the Cambria bottom level, and it is there* fore difficult to estimate the distance to be driven to cut the reef. A survey will be made as soon as possible to determine this, but at any rate it should not take a great while before the lode is in hand, and if it continues payable, the company will be able to quickly turn out a lot of crushing dirt. QUEEN OF BEAUTY. The pumps were again brought to a standstill this morning, while another length of pipe was being put on to each of the columns. The contractors are making excellent headway, the shaft being now down 40ft. below No. 10 level, or fully 700 ft. from the surface, and 60ft. below the Big Pump bottom level. This leaves only 30ft. to sink before the point where No. 11 chamber is to be opened out will be reached. The sandstone is of a much more favorable class than that at No. 10, being intersected witli numerous mineral veins. The machinery continues to work well. GOLD KETUKNS. Anglo-Maobi (Otunui). — The proprietors, Messrs Tookey and Mills, have crushed 23 loads of quartz (taken from a reef averaging nearly 2ft. wide) at the New Eureka battery for the return of 17ozs 14dwts gold.

Caledonian.—Mills and party have finished a crushing of 15 loads at the Herald battery for 35ozs 4dwts gold. Dakt.—Me Collum and party have banked 4ozs gold.

Lonehand —A parcel for Gribble and party has yielded 2ozs 4dwts gold. Moanataiei.—Jones and party banked 4ozs 15dwts gold this morning.
