Viscount Garmoyle, opened to»day, when defendant consented to a verdict for plaintiff with damages £10,000, the full amount claimed. London, November 18. The homeward mails, via Suez and Brindisi, dated Melbourne, October 9, were delivered here to-day. November 19. Sir Thomas Brassey has been appointed Secretary to the Admiralty, vice Campbell Bannerman. Mr Stuart, the Liberal candidate, was elected for the Hackney constituency, aseat which was rendered vacant by the death of the Eight Hon. Henry Fawcett, by a majority of 600 votes. Beelin, November 19. The International Congress on the Congo question now holding meetings here, have appointed a committee to define the boundaries of the Congo district.
