[Received November 21,12.30 p m.] Melbouene, This day. The V.S.O. Derby Protest. The enquiry held at Adelaide into the protest lodged against Rnfus for the V.X.C. Derby has shown that the horse was correctly nominated by its owner.
Sydney, Yesterday. Arrived this, morning : The steamship City of Sydney, from San Francisco, via Auckland. The Budget statement was delivered in the Legislative Assemb'y this afternoon. The Colonial Treasurer estimates the revenue for the coming year at £8,480,000, and the expenditure at £8,420,000, leaving a surplus of £275,000 at the close of next year. General Booth, the founder of the Salvation Army, contemplates making a three months' tour of New Zealand, commencing in Auckland in January next.
