OUR MINES.

NEW PEINCE IMPEEIAL,

The country in the crosscut at No. 7 level continues a favorable class for gold, though still tough. At No. 6, in the east drive, the No. 2 reef is still not well de fined, but as the sandstone is still very favorable, the quartz should come together in a few feet. The stopes on the footwall lead west of the break are looking veil, and eastward the block in hand will occupy the men several weeks before the floor of No. 5 level is reached. The other workiDgß do not present any change to report. DEEP LEVEL CKOSS. Gold is still seen pretty freely at each breaking in the drive south on the reef at l»To. 5 le»el; the parcel now being crusbfd at the Herald battery will consist of 10 or 12 loadß, and the return will probably be to hand on Saturday. CALEDONIAN LOW LEVEL. The southward crosscut at the 640 ft. level has just passed through another body of quartz, which is running nearly the same course as the drive, and is lying very flat. The hanging and footwall portions are solid bodies of quartz, with stringers between, the thickness of the whele being about nine feet. The quartz looks so promising, and the minerals are ao favorable, that some of it will be saved for treatment. KUEANUI HILL. The manager this afternoon banked 27flzs 13dwts gold, the yield from four trial parcels just crushed. When the battery started the manager did not expect to get much from them, but he has been agreeably disappointed, especially in connection with the trial from No. 2 reef at the 80ft. level. This lode was driven on 60ft., and a leading stope carried along for that distance. No gold was seen, but the lode, which occasionally was as much as 18in. wide, looked well, and all the quartz was sent to the mill, where it shaped for Hoz per ton. There is still 130 ft. to drive to the slide, and as no work has been done with the exception of that mentioned, there is a chance of something good being found. Stoping will be started without delay. The trial from No. 1 reef also gave a good payable return, and as soon as the «e<cond winze is down the required depth, and connected with the 80ft. level, the work of driving and stoping will be commenced. The manager expects to effect communication in a fortnight. The two remaining trials were poor. MOANATAIEI EXTENDED. The north-east crosscut is now in about 17 feet from the shaft, but beyond a small stringer or two no quartz has been cut. The manager has recommended the directors to drive southwards, as the Cam bria lode should be intersected within ICOft, but has not yet received any answer. GOLD BETUENS. Kvtlxtsvi Hili..—Thomas and party have crushed 2 tons for 13ozs 4dwts — Mclnnis and party to-day banked Bozs 12dwts gold.
