Wellington, This day. Further particulars of the beaching of the Auckland schooner Golden Isle in Palliser Bay are as follows :—Henry Cheffey, cook and seaman, states: The vessel not making Cape Campbell on the 6th, was hove to in thick weather and a heavy sea. On the morning of the 7th saw the cliffs oa the lee to N. and E. ; wore ship, and made all possible sail, and after standing W. for a while saw cliffs again on botK bows; wore ship again, and in doing so carried away the foreyard, which took with it the foresail; the jib also blew away. Having only three sails left, reefed the mainsail, and found we were among breakers. Wo cleared the reef, and found no alternative but to beach the vessel. In beaching a heavy sea came aboard, carrying away the cabin companion, stoye jn the maipt hatoh, and took the captaiu down the hold. The man at the wheel got ashore by jumping into the back water, and I followed with another shipmate. The mate then hove a line, which I received, and the mate and captain lashed themselres.together, dropped over the bows, and were hauled ashore. The captain's injuries were cuts about the face, and bruises oa. the left
thigh and groin, causing a £God deal o pain. The vessel seems somewhat strained in the garboard streak.
