Thames Hospital.

The nsual monthly meeting of the Committee was held at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Present: Messrs MeGowan (President), Brodie, Clark, Farrell, Hall, Kilgour, Marshall, Mulligan, Rad» • ford, Stone, and the Eevs. Barley, Evans, Feill, and O'Reilly.

After considering the House Committee's report, George Jeanes was ordered to be re-admitted to the Old Men's .Refuge, and accounts to the amount of £103 were passed for payment.

The Surgeon's report was adopted, a recommendation for the purchase of a new fire-hose being referred to the House Committee. The report stated that 50 patients had been treated during October, 18 remained on the 31st ult., and 217 outpatients had been attended to.

Mrs Shirkwell, nurse, was graßted a fortnight's holiday, and W. Swindells, cook, a week, on condition that the salary of a substitute was paid by each.

The Secretary reported having sent out sixteen subscription lists to outlying sawmills, bush stations, &c.

Replies re tbe suggested demonstration in aid of the Hospital funds by the Friendly Societies were received from the Loyal Waikato and Charles Bruce Lodges of Oddfellows, and the Prince of Wales Lodge, P.A.F.S.; the first declined to have anything to do with a demonstration so long as Dr Payne was Hospital Surgeon ; the second excused itself on the ground of the small number of members ; and the third simply declined the proposal. —After some desultory conversation the matter dropped.

The Town Clerk wrote that Mr J. Wilson had been appointed to the vacant Borough Council seat on the Committee.

The matter of furnishing the new hospital ward was relegated to the House Committee.

The following resolution, moved by Mr Farrell, and seconded by Mr Brodie, was carried:—"That the Secretary be instructed to communicate with the Government with a view to obtaining a sum of money to be determined by the House Committee, out of the vote in aid of hospital and charitable institutions, with which to purchase the allotments between the Old Men's Refuge and the women's ward.' 1

Messrs Hall, P. Gr. Evans, Parrell, and Kilgour were appointed House Committee for the ensuing month, and the meeting adjourned.
