In a race between the steamers Clansman (Northern 8.8. Co.'s new steamer), Wellington, and Waitaki, from Waiwera to Auckland, the two former finished first, a dead heat, beating the Waitaki by two miles in the twenty-four. The speed attained was 12 miles an hour.
