STEICTEST SECRECY !!! ||S FERGUSSON may bo Consulted if I FREE on Diseases of Young Men, at bis Private Consulting Eoom (next Atkins' Printing Office), High street, Auckland. Hours : 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Evening, 7to 8 p.m. Desciottive Pampbxets Free. Diseased Nature oftentimes breaks forth in strange eruptions."—Act iii, Scene 1. TO THE PUBLIC. SOME patients suffering from nervous affections are afraid from sheer bashfulness and modesty to pjebsokally consult a medical man—other patients have not the self-poseession and coolness when in the consulting room, to accurately describe their symptoms —their habita of life, and the nature of the disease they suffer from. Let suoh persons (he or she) sit quietly down in the privacy of their own apartments, and with calm minds describe clearly eaoh symptom of their case, a clear statement thus written, and laid before me is, far preferable in NBEVOUS diseases to a personal consultation. Where, however, a disease is of a peculiar and exceptional character, a personal consultation may become necsssary ; but my success in correspondence is so great, that of the thousands upon thousands whom I have treated by letter during the last 32 years, not a single mistake has ever occurred, not a case has ever been made public—in fact the very simplicity of my syetem of correspondence prevents publicity. At the same time medicines ore sent to my patients in such a form as to defy detection. How many thousands have I not brought joy to ? How many have been enabled to enter into the marriage Btate through conaulting me ? How many after marriage have privately consulted me and been blessed and their married lives made fruitful and happy. How many wasted ruined youths of both sexes have also been restored to health, and thanked their manhood, for having consulted me by letter. How many questions arise wht>re the family physician iv unable to unravel the case and where often tho patient lingers on, not daring to tell his family medical adviser the nature of his complaint, until consumption wasting, or mental diseases, set in and the sufferer gets beyond the curiable stage, and is left a hopeless wreck. A letter written in the privacy of the room and dropped in the post box reaches me quietly ; the answer is returned us quietly and unostentatiously, and tho patient, without stepping from his fihiunber, except to post his letter, is by return of poet put in full possession of the nature of' his case. His hopes are rrised his doubts removed, and he is comparatively a new man ; in facfc, in many cases, & new being altogether. The only addition to the ordinary written letter is the age occupation, habits and symptoms, nothing more. The usual consultation feo of £1 (one pound) must be enclosed, otherwise no answer will be returned. There are thousands of caßes in daily lifo where a consultation with one at a distance will remove by a single letter a great fear, a great care, and it often solves what appears as an impenetrable mystery. Many a sad heart has been made joyful on receipt of an explanatory letter from me. To those who are about to marry, I would ssy consult me before doing so, and thus prevent many after troubles, and remove many unnecessary fears and prejudices; to those, more especially, who have Buffered in early years from disease, or who have yielded to their passions. To these I say, at once, consult with me, do not tarry, delays are dangerous, and as an expert, my time may not be always at your service, you can, by simply enclosing one pound, have the benefit of my experience in the same manner as if I lived in yoxir town, and with the additional advantage of thorough privacy.—Yours, truly, LOUIS L. SMITH. Address— DR L. L. SMITH. 182 COLLINS STREET EAST Melbourne. CONSULTATION FEE BY LETTER, £1. Fee for personal Consultation, £L 1. The latter is inclusive of Medicine. Medicines forwarded, well-packed, to all the Colonies, India and Europe. 182, C'OLLIIIB BTBEET IISI 1, MBKBOWJB,
